Upgrade and costs

Fog requires Mist Cleaner 1000 from Albert’s Shipyard (61, 64). Icebreaker and Rock Destroyer open earlier regions; a movement shrine cannot remove a sea barrier.

Prepare 3,000 Glims, 8 Silver Ore, 22 Silk Fabric, 3 Bottled Ectoplasm, 6 Crystal Glass Sheets and 3 Spirit Flowers. Keep Silver as Ore. Previously spent flowers cannot be counted again.

Gather materials before entering fog

Silver Ore: visit the Silver Dragon (188, -44) in the rock-accessible region; mine the nodes and keep at least 8 ore.

Silk Fabric: buy Mulberry Seeds at Oxbury (233, 18), accessible with Rock Destroyer. Plant in an Orchard, harvest Silk Fibre, weave it into Thread, then use an improved Loom to make Fabric. Thread alone does not satisfy the fabric requirement.

Bottled Ectoplasm: after four spirits have been released in the post-Beverly progression, fish up the mushroom Mystery Seed, grow Stanley in the Garden and progress his room requests. Interact with Jacob’s aquarium and catch Dust Shades. This is an on-boat event, so acquiring Ectoplasm does not require entering the fog first.

Crystal Glass Sheet: use a Smithy to combine 1 Zinc Ingot and 1 Silica Powder. Mine Zinc in Southpoint Docks or another reachable rock-region source and smelt it in the Foundry. Obtain Quartz from Summer’s dragon event and crush it into Silica Powder. Buy the Master blueprint station and progress Gustav to The Master Forger for the Smithy introduction; build it with 12 Silica Powder, 5 Comet Powder, 5 Pulsar Ingots and 12 Ash Planks. Do not substitute Clear Glass Sheets.

Spirit Flowers come from completing and releasing eligible spirits, then collecting the flower in their rooms. Gwen’s first flower is normally already spent on Icebreaker; previously spent flowers cannot be counted again.

Purchase and passage

At Albert, open Boat Improvements and select Mist Cleaner 1000 once the earlier improvements and displayed materials are satisfied. Then plot a destination beyond the fog border. Reaching an island inside that region is the success signal; merely owning a shrine ability is not. If the boat still stops at the border, check that the improvement was purchased rather than only tracked in the log.
