How to play guitar and grow plants faster
Finish Summer’s plant lesson, stand in a Garden, Field or Orchard with plants still growing, and hold the Music action. On keyboard the default is R; tapping it is not enough.
Unlock the plant lesson
Recruit Summer at Hummingberg after learning Double Jump. Progress her Jiving Chives request, build a Garden and plant the requested early vegetables; Summer teaches the plant-music minigame. Carrot and Turnip Seeds are available in Hummingberg’s shop. Stand inside the relevant Garden, Field or Orchard with plants still growing when you want to start the lesson/action.
Hold the music binding and follow prompts
Hold R in the Garden, Field or Orchard with growing plants. A quick press does not start the minigame. Follow its on-screen rhythm prompts; successful playing accelerates plant growth.
If you rebound Music, use your configured key. On a controller, use the Music action shown in your controls. Plant music cannot start during events.
Before treating a failure as a bug, check the lesson, a growing plant, holding rather than tapping, the binding and whether an event is running.
